Το ξενοδοχείο είναι περιποιημένο και το δωμάτιο άνετο , ζεστό και πολύ καθαρό.Βρίσκεται τρία τετράγωνα απο την στάση του λεωφορείου του αεροδρομίου(10΄με τα πόδια περίπου).Επίσης είναι πολύ κοντά σε στάση του μετρό.Η περιοχη είναι ωραία και κεντρική.Δεν ταλαιπωρηθήκαμε καθόλου στις μετακινήσεις μας.Η διαμονή μας ηταν πολύ ωραία.Το μόνο που μας προβλημάτισε […] ήταν οταν φεύγοντας μας ζήτησαν να πληρώσουμε το δωμάτιο που είχαμε ήδη πληρώσει μεσω πιστωτικής οταν κάναμε την κράτηση.Είχαμε μαζί την επιβεβαίωση του HOTELS.COM με την πληρωμή και το θέμα λύθηκε.Καλό θα είναι να έχετε μαζί τις αποδείξεις ώστε να μην σας ζητούν να ξαναπληρώσετε. Price was fair, room was clean but a bit tiny, double bed was comfortable, the room was not facing the street so was not noisy at all, the staff was speaking English and the hotel is located in a convenient place. Would skip breakfast (overpriced) in the hotel for one in a nearby café, much cheaper.

This is a wonderful hotel right in the middle of everything and it is just charming. The pool is an added plus after too much walking, sightseeing, cava, tapas..... you get the idea.

A very solid 3 star hotel, well run, great staff with very good English, good suggestions re: how to do things, where to go etcetc. Upgrade to Superior room at the back overlooking the pool/adjacent gardens etc was well worth the 10 Euros.

Loved it here. We stayed six nights and the staff were lovely and helpful and the hotel is in a fantastic location within easy reach of the Rambla and Passeig de Gracia. The room, though small, was incredibly well planned and very clean with a modern bathroom and a fabulous shower. The little garden was a joy. I have only one minor negative in that […] our room was dark because it only had a window looking out to an interior well, BUT we had booked a stay during the period of the Spanish Grand Prix and we'd got an incredibly good nightly rate so we knew we wouldn't get the best room in the hotel. It didn't spoil our stay at all but, if you can afford it, and a view is important to you, then perhaps consider upgrading. We would definitely recommend the Balmes and can't wait to go back. Lots of good restaurants, walking distance to many sights. Really no 'view' out of the upper level rooms. The upgrade to the Executive suite (10 euros per day) was well with the cost. Parking really tough but front staff was helpful. Would stay here again.

I have marked this as straight 5's but obviously this is done with a degree of realism in as much as its a 3* city centre hotel and based on these peramiters it is really excellent

At any other time, this is a great hotel for the price. During Mobile World Congress, it was not worth the EUR320/night...though that was half of similar hotels nearby. Balmes is a gem...perfectly located for my needs, very clean, quiet...though occasional hallway noise, and all the staff I encountered were helpful and friendly.

Paper thin walls, you can hear every sound inc loos being flushed. Waste pipe ran through our room & was very loud! Bed was very uncomfortable & to top it all a maid burst into our room @ 08.15 with out knocking!!! Great City, very poor hotel!

Our room was quite noisy as we were just off the lobby and you could hear whenever someone in a neighbouring room ran water in the bathroom. Jacuzzi was broken for our whole stay. Otherwise it was a very nice hotel.

A very pleasant, modern hotel but our bathroom needs a bit of refreshing. Its convenient to many restaurants and cafes and not too far to walk to Plaza Catalunya for the Aerobus to the airport. I had booked a Standard Room but happily, was given a room with a separate sitting room. So well done, Hotel Balmes! We were fairly disappointed with the Hotel Balmes for one reason in particular. The walls were paper-thin. We heard everything that happened on our floor and on the floor below us, because our room was a two-floor loft. This was particularly problematic when at 7AM we heard loud knocking and "La Policia!" shouted. We awoke in a panic thinking we were […] being arrested in a foreign country. It turned out not to be our room, but the fact that we thought it was demonstrates how thin these walls are. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you are a light sleeper. In addition to this, our shower wouldn't drain, and when we asked the front desk about it, there was no offer to fix it or move us to another room. They just recommended fidgeting with the drain. The hotel advertise the sauna and the hot tub. Both didn't work. We stayed 4 nights and still nothing works. First night I asked some guest that was already at the hotel and he said that the facilities didn't work when he arrived either. Seems like both are being broken for a wile, but all you get for the answer is " we are waiting for repair - this […] way they'll wait forever. I booked this hotel because they had sauna ( which is actually the steam room, but it doesn't matter since it's not working) and the hot tub, so we could relax there after long walks in Barcelona. Most of the hotel staff were very pleasant, but there were some very notable exceptions. The cleaning staff were great. The restaurant staff could have been a lot more attentive. A couple of the front-desk staff got downright snappy. When I asked for help making a long-distance collect call, one of the staff got very impatient and nasty. "Free Wi-fi" made it sound like access was available 24 hours in the rooms, but actually meant one session of up to ninety minutes or free 24-hour service in the lobby. I expressly requested a room with a balcony. This did not happen, We were initially put into a very unpleasant, dark, small room that had frosted windows, very little natural light and no balcony. After complaining to the reception we were re-allocated to a room the following morning. Good value for the money. Impresed with the designers adaptation of an older building and merging it into the new. We moved to a hotel by the beach for a few days and are now moving back to the Balmes.

The hotel provided a clean, secure and comfortable stay. We were close enough for the night life, but far enough that our evenings on our terrace were glorious. The hotel personnel were all a pleasure.

Pleasant surpise with room quality, and location to pool. Staff very attentive. Location to city activities good. Could highlights it slocation to rail system better. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel, the price quoted was prohibitive at 14E / head.

Good location, quiet area but only 10 mins walk to find good restaurants and Las Ramblas. Staff always helpful, nothing too much trouble. Garden and pool area definately a bonus and very welcome after a days sightseeing! Would definately recommend to friends and would return to Barcelona and hotel

The hotel made for a great stay and was about 1km+ North of the majority of the tourist spots. If you want to be close but a little bit away from everything, I highly suggest it. I also loved the tapas resteraunt just a few doors east down the street called Catalana!

the location of the hotel is ideal just a block away from "La Rambla"... clean, staff is freindly and the room we had was very nice.

Everything was wonderful except the parking lot. Very small and unfortunately my car got a scratch that represented me 165 euros for a scratch that I didnt do it, but overall it was pleasant, good price and convenient to move around in downtown Barcelona.

Very nice, clean hotel, close to the Pedrera and not too far from the center of town. Helpfull staff, small but nice and quiet pool and sauna, overall a very nice stay! My single room was on the 5th floor, quiet, clean, without much of a view but who cares when you're in Barcelona. Nothing negative to say, would stay there again if in Barcelona.

The room was great, fabulous size! The location was wonderful. You can walk to many sites and the hotel is near buses and trains. Lots of boutiques/restaurants around hotel. Front desk generally unfriendly and unhelpful. Your room key lights the whole room except bathroom so when you shut the lights off you need to plug your phone into another socket […] disconnected from the circuit so it still charges. nice hotel, the only problem i had was the first room i was given (by the pool) was very noisy and no sounds insulation - i could hear my neighbours too! however once i complained i was quickly moved to a much better room.

The location of the hotel was so so. We had to walk about 15-20 minutes to get to The Placa de Catalunya and Las Ramblas. The hallway where my room was smelled like smoke. Rooms are very small and the windows from my and my friends' rooms faced a brick wall. Staff was nice. Overall, I would say my biggest complaint was the location. The decor in the public parts of the hotel is lovely. The rooms are clean, of good size and the beds were comfy enough (our family room had 2 single beds and a double sofabed). Good air conditioning. Lovely shower. The pool/sunbathing area were very good. I really liked the location - close enough to the bustling La Rambla (10-15 min walk) but far […] enough away that the nearby restaurants don't have grossly inflated tourist prices. There's also a 24 hour convenience store next to the hotel which came in very handy. Staff were all friendly and don't worry if you can't speak Spanish/Catalan as the reception staff were all fluent in English If, like us, you can't be bothered figuring out the trains/buses as soon as you arrive, a taxi from the airport to the hotel costs about 30€ and takes about 20-30 mins.
