Very convenient location, we walked to the White House, another day to the Capitol, the grand mall was easy walking distance. The view from the room was great, we had the river view. It is far from the Dulles Airport, cost 70$ taxi each way.The metro stop was very close and so was the Safeway market. The restaurant on site wasn't very diversified, same […] food every day. not very many vegatarian choices. Tho Jennys was near by and they had very good chinese food. Fish market very close too. good location, great waterfront views

The Hotel is good for its location., The Waterfront is good and so is the neighborhood with walking distance Metro station. But, The Hotel is too expensive for what it is. Its charges are pretty like a 'Good-Very Good' Hotel but its just an average hotel. Its only advantage is its location.

I love being within walking distance to seafood restaurants. The location is great. The staff is warm and friendly. The lounge had live entertainment which was very good. The location was pretty convenient (few blocks to the metro) and the parking garage was free. The hotel itself was a bit run down-looked like it was probably nice at one time but just tired now (wall paper lifting, grout discolored, door trim and bottoms chipped and broken). This place is a dump. Beds were awful, musty carpet and just not worth the money.

When we stayed at the Channel Inn in 2007 there was a Circulator Bus stop across from the entrance - you could ride to the Capital Mall and back for about $1-$2 per person. So the Inn was very convenient. Now the Circulator Bus is either temporarily or permanently discontinued. We found you could easily walk to the Mall in about 15 minutes this trip. […] At night, you may not feel as comfortable walking. The location is not close to any other restaurants, so the hotel restaurant is the only real option. For the price we paid, and considering DC's hotel costs in general, this is a good value. The absolutely worst part is the very old front desk guy was extremely rude and gruff to several people, and short with us. He was not helpful and seemed bothered that anyone would ask him questions. old hotel but great restaurant friendly and fair priced.

First, we got a room that had malfunctioning light in the bathroom and smell. We requested a change of the room and did not have problems with that. I was prepared for this hotel -- old school place in desperate need of new furnishings in a neighborhood that was once VERY rundown but is now home to new development occupied by young professionals. An older building and dated decor, but despite some flaws in the wallpaper, the rooms my friends and I were in were clean and functional. The waterfront provides good opportunity for walking or running without needing to cross many streets. A frontage road separates the building from most traffic. Nice views over Potomac River Channel. Arena Theater complex across the road. Brisk 15min walk to L'Enfant Metro and 20min to the Mall.

Nice waterfront location two blocks from a metro station. The rest. was acceptable. Some problem with door access, but overall a good stay. I would stay again.

If your purpose is to visit is to see the National Mall and monuments, then this hotel is just a few blocks away from it. There are two metro stations (Waterfront and L'Enfant Plaza) nearby with connectivity to all the 5 metro lines. The hotel is situated right next to the marina from where several cruises start. The hotel has a good location, we could walk to the Capitol, the museums, etc. Because of the spring break the hotel was expensive, I believe for the same price we could have gotten a better hotel in other time of the year.Breakfast at the hotel (not included) was very good, all the staff were friendly, helpful and nice.

Great location at the warf. Hotel rooms are dated but very clean. Wish there was an in room coffee maker. But hotel coffee shop opens at 6:30, and had a great breakfast selection.

I took my 2 daughters (7 & 9) to Washington for all the typical sight seeing. The free parking at the hotel saved us a ton of money. Plus it was only 2 blocks from the nearest metro station. I found the hotel staff to be both helpful and polite ( this was also true of most of the people we met). As for the room itself it was very dated. But everything […] appeared clean. I got itch after staying in the hotel for four nights. One night I even found two bugs near my pillow. I was very suspicious if they changed the sheet for me. The food at 7 piers was awful! Never dine there!

This hotel is on the waterfront, next to the Warf and watrerfront apts. The prioce was reasonable for last minute. Upon reading the reviews in advance, we asked for a hotel with the harbor view and balacony on 1st floor. Great advice. Worth the scenary. We liked the place and location. Close walk to Downtown and all sites. Close to Fish market and Jefferson […] memorial. Across from Oriental Mandarin Hotel @ $400.00/night. Mattresses were a little firm. We took double beds for family of 5. Oh ya, the Towels there are old and dingy, I recommend to bring your own. Ice machine on 1st floor busted and pool has been out of order for 10 years since the last reviews. The lobby is old and dated but who cares. Planes and copters fly oer every monrning and evening as Dulles international acorss river and Pentagon is accross the harbor so it can get noisy, but if you are never there, who cares. The restaurant dinning room and cafeteria is old and head dinning person was cheap as she would not provide a cup of hot water, but then again for no frills and nickel and dimming is similar everywhere else. The great part is that parking is free for guests. Other places and hotels charge approx $47/day, so that is a big perk. !. And you are close the the waterfront metro, Safeway markets, CVS, Starbucks and other restaurants. Also a short walk to the pear waterfront boat rides and the titanic statue. Fairly well maintained for an older hotel. No coffee maker or fridge. Coffee in coffee shop cost $2.35/cup. Nice venue on river, but a good hike to mall and other attractions.

the hotel was great. stafff was friendly and the location was nice. liked the balcony overlooking the river.the remote didnt work for the tv but no big deal there.i don't recommend ordering fodd from "papa joes" they had a fler in the room."papa joes" food is awful!! they got the order wrong took almost an hour to get the food and it was wrong then […] another hour for the correct order. food was bad!!! other than that expeiance the hotel is nice for the price and i would stay there again. The hotel is ok for being a decent price. There were no vending macginces or ice in the ice machince. Only 2 sodas were available in the soda machine. You will have to go withour extra pillows bc after 8 they lock housekeeping and u cant get anything. The parking garage is spooky

There was a guy trying to get into the room which I had already checked in. I found out that Front desk assigned the same room number. It is totally unacceptable. I do not mind an old fashioned hotel however security is the priority! Moreover, there is no breakfast provide beside expensive meal for breakfast!

We stayed with our 7 and 8 year olds. Room was perfect to come back to and sleep after sight seeing. Great view from the balcony of the channel and within walking distance of the Smithsonian museums. A little musty smelling, could use some updates to the bathrooms (very old looking and torn wallpaper) but all in all great for a cheap getaway! Sure it needs some updates, but who can complain when the price is right!! Check-In was fast because I was prepaid and I asked for a Riverfront room and they didn't even charge extra. The room was clean and met our needs. Can you say FREE parking, a 3 block walk to the Metro and Bike Share next door - very convenient to everything. Stayed there 5 nights […] with my 2 teenagers during Cherry Blossom time in a 1st floor balcony by the water - beautiful. Walked to the Tidal Basin to see the blossoms and the Wharf for fresh seafood, took the Metro to the Smithsonians and all the sites. We had dinner at Pier 7 one night and it was good - I had a $25 certificate so - it was even better!! After reading other reviews of this hotel - I was very skeptical. Stayed at the hotel with couple of friends on a weekend in DC. The hotel is within walking distance from National mall and having a free parking is a Great plus. Service was very quick and courteous, they provided us with a rollaway bed to accommodate 3 persons in the room. The room: beds, floor & bathroom was clean. The walls were recently painted. Electricity […] might have needed some maintenance, as one of the lights didn't work, but can't complain with the price :) The room had an excellent river view, and we enjoyed it a LOT for the time we stayed in it :) I would highly recommend this to visitors looking for a clean cheap convenient option. Nothing fancy but perfectly acceptable, with a nice view of the Potomac, and two blocks from a metro stop.

PROS: LOCATION is GREAT! Good price for being in the District, only a mile walking to the National Mall. Clean, free Wifi, parking available, bar and restaurant on site. CONS: Old building with no updates, hard beds, no coffee in room, not close to public transit. But for the price and location, the pros outweigh the cons.

I can honestly say this has been the worst hotel experience I've ever had. I initially looked at this hotel because it was in a decent location and it advertised free parking in DC, a rarity indeed. Even though I had read a few negative reviews, I thought it could never happen to me, so I booked a room months in advance and requested a queen bed. Got […] to the hotel at around 8 pm and instantly realized how outdated the hotel was (they had computers, but basically registered everyone and kept their records on cards in a file storage system). They gave us a room on the first floor. Of course the cards didn't work, so we had to go back to the front desk to get it re-magnetized or whatever. Still didn't work. Finally, after the 3rd try, they decided to give us a different room on the third floor. This time, the key did work, however, the room we received was a nasty dingy room with two double beds, with a broken alarm clock and a broken telephone. Definitely not what we signed up for. We went back down to tell them about the situation and we were met with a condescending and disrespectful manager. He basically said all the queen rooms were given away because we were "late." No where on their website or advertisement did they say this is how they assign rooms. As far as I know, if you reserve a room and they confirm it, they should have it ready for you. We complained about the phone and alarm clock not working, to which he dials the room's number, shoves the receiver to my face and says "What do you mean it doesn't work?!" Finally, the manager had the audacity to say "If you don't like it, then take your bags and go. Good luck finding a hotel at this time." Completely disrespectful!! Will NEVER stay here again. I had to stand in the hall way to get wifi. The bar in the hotel is on the expensive compared to bar in town. They consider Jose quevos primium and no beer on tap.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel was clean, the service was good, 20 minute walking distance to the National Mall, rooms with views of the waterfront. The only draw back was that our keys stopped working every evening and we had to have them rekeyed to enter our room.

old, tired hotel.....but if you get a room overlooking the water and boats the negatives go away

The free use of under ground parking and easy 10 minute walk to the metro made this a good choice. We felt safe in the area even after dark.

This hotel is pretty pitiful. The matress was old and caved in, rusty water came out of the spigot when first turned on, I got several bug bites while IN the room, there is nothing in walking distance and the front desk staff was rude. Nothing appears to have been updated since late 70s, early 80s.

We were on a limited budget so this hotel ticked all the boxes. The room is large but the TV is very small with basic chanels. We kept getting shock off the furniture. Must have been the carpet as it was happening to both of us. Not a nice experience. The wallpaper in our room was peeling off the walls and the decor is very outdated with mix n match […] furniture. The bathroom was nice with shower over bath. The bed was very comfortable. Didn't eat at the hotel at all so can't comment on the restaurant. Nice and handy to the big shopping centre and the Metro 5 bus which goes to the airport, although don't get a cab from the hotel to the pick up point. We did this and despite it only being 500m down the road, the cab charged us $12 for our suitcases. So check before you book it otherwise walk if you have time. Myself and three friends stayed here for the Reason Rally (March 2012). About our room: Our balcony looked out over the water, and we could see ships cruising by all day, it was beautiful. The rest of the room was average, which is perfect for me. There were no towels when we first got our room, though they fixed that quickly. There was no coffeepot, […] just as a warning to those that are in dire need of morning caffeine. There is a Pepsi machine as well as an ice machine down the hall. The decor is outdated but neat and clean. About the restaurant: The restaurant served a cafeteria-style breakfast, and was reasonably priced and tasty. About the staff: The man I first dealt with to see if we could check in early was rude, didn't speak much, and just shook his head and glared a lot. He was also there a few hours later when we did check in, and he was rude to a few others in line. I chose to check in with another man who was behind the counter at the time, and he was quite nice. The girl I checked out with was also friendly. About parking: Parking was free, and in a garage on the lower level of the hotel. As an added benefit, they let us park there before check-in, and they let us stay parked after check-out while we explored the city. About the location: The hotel is a short walk from the National Mall, where our event was. We also hit a few museums, the botanical garden, and the capital and never needed any transportation. I wouldn't recommend walking for anyone who gets tired easy, or has small children though. Overall I liked the hotel experience. I looked through all the reviews prior to booking, and found them fairly accurate. The hotel is nothing special, but it is in a good location (15 min walk from the Mall), and has free parking(!). It is defiinitely an older hotel without many amenities (no fridge or coffee maker in room). Wireless internet was free--but very slow. The staff was okay--not […] great. When I checked in, I asked for a curtain in my room to be fixed, but it never was. The maids also have an annoying habit of knocking on the door at 8:30 every morning. If you want to take your family to DC on a low budget, that is a good option. The hotel is very old, but clean and has comfortable beds. It is 2 blocks from the subway station, has a view to the river, and close to a grocery store. The staff is helpful and cordial
