Super 8 Butler Pa - Butler

The hotel is located on route 8 just outside the city of Butler. It was very convenient for my trip. The staff was nice and had a little coffee bar for the morning. They have vending machines as well. The room was clean, but reeked of cigarette smoke. We needed a hotel that would accept dogs, according to hotels.com, this location was the only 1 and didn't charge! Until we checked in and learned they do. $15/night. (I did call hotels.com to correct and received a $15 voucher) Hotel condition is very basic, Our room had some minor issues, dusty, outlet cover missing, inside of lamp shade torn with […] a piece of it behind the nightstand, bathroom only provided 1 soap bar, 1 shampoo, no cond, no hand lotion. Ice bucket had no plastic liner/bag. When we opened the fridge, there was a used veggie tray in there.. TV is old style, not flat screen. Remote had deep scratches, (maybe from a dog?) Bed is very firm, I woke up with a headache/backache both mornings. Brkfst is your choice of fruit loops or corn flakes, toast, packaged sweet roll & coffee/tea, It's as basic as it gets.. Although grateful for anything at that point. We stayed 2 nights, 1st night (around 6p) someone outside our door was vaccuming, (did not happen again on 2nd night) Our room faced the street, so while there are train tracks behind the hotel, we heard nothing other than normal street/truck/car traffic within our room. The Bgr King/Pizza Hut on each side of hotel is convenient. There is also a small strip mall within walking dist. that inc. a thrift, grocery, tanning, liquor, hardware, dollar general & McD. Decent place. Pleasant staff. Comfy bed. Pet friendly. Industrial area=noisy but not overpowering. Convenient to grocery & fast food.

Staff at front desk was friendly and very accomodating.. however the carpet was dirty heading up the stairs, the room stank of cigarette smoke, the sewage plant was close to hotel so you either had to put up with smell in the room or the smell of the plant outside, furnishings were clean but very old and outdated and not inviting at all, I used the […] hairdryer in the bathroom and there was a huge beetle stuck in it, thank goodness it was dead. Overall it was ok to have a place to sleep.. and the price was ok... but now we know why it was so cheap. We will never stay there again if we can help it. The hotel gets a lot of the construction and fracking crews in the area. It is an old hotel and looks and smells that way. Great price for last minute rooms but if you are looking for fancy, stay in Pittsburgh.

This is obviously not a luxury hotel, but it was cheap and comfortable. The staff was friendly and my room was clean. Overall, nothing to gush about but no complaints either.

Train tracks right outside the window with trains going all night long. Kept waking up the kids. Window looks like someone broke in.. a few times. Did not feel like a safe area, gave my wife the creeps.

When we arrived at the hotel to check in everything went smooth. When we went to take showers after arriving we did not have enough towels in our room. The bathroom had a filthy dirty floor not swept or mopped the toliet had not been cleaned.The pillows were so flimsy and flat not comfortable. One of the comforters had 2 burn holes in them. The hotel was noisy, spartan, and outdated but clean and air conditioned. Continental breakfast, though minimal, was a nice touch. Got a non-smoking room that didn't smell like someone had been smoking in it.Nicely landscaped but cigarette butts greet you as you walk to the front door.

I chose this hotel be cause i stayed at a super 8 in hagerstown md for a week. it was spotless and the staff was wonderful. this super 8 gives others a bad name. sorry

Not bad if you're watching your pennies and you don't expect a resort. It's a place to sleep, shower and put on clean clothes. If you're looking for more than this, stay somewhere else that's accustomed to your lifestyle.

We reserved a non-smoking room. They said they did not have one. It was take it or nothing. The room and everything in it smelled really bad. The window must not have ever been opened. Several members of our group researved non-smoking rooms over a month in advance, but were told on arrival that none were available. Ironically, even that non-smoking rooms smelled of smoke. If you are a cigar smoker the rooms are reasonable, if not I would go elsewhere.

The reason I rate this only satisfactory is that the beds mattresses on the beds need to be replaced. They are old, hard and have deep valleys in them. It was a good location for us, the manager was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were small.

Worst hotel we have evert stayed in. The entire hotel reeked of smoke. We had a "non smoking" room one on an entire smoking floor so the room just smelt terrible. There were cigarette butts on the window sill. It was so bad that my 3 year old woke up in the middle of the night coughing and threw up. For rail fans this is a great hotel with two railroad mainlines (B&PRR and B&LE) visible from the back side of the hotel.

Despite their having a non-smoking floor (which we were on), the smell of smoke was everywhere in the hotel, particularly the lobby. One of the comforters on the bed was torn and ripped fairly extensively...it looked as if it had been like that for awhile. We stayed for a week and had our towels and other toiletries replenished once, I had to go to the front desk and ask for toilet paper twice during our stay(the woman at the desk didn't seem to happy about helping). The near by train sound was loud but once the windows are shut. Then, it was tolerable. The carpet in the hallway was dirty. Even though there was a no smoking sign, but woke up early in the morning and smell smoke in the lobby. The stairs were also very dirty. They offered complimentary breakfast, which was alright. My wife and I had to check out of this hotel two days early. The conditions were such that we could not stay. When we arrived, we were given the chose of two rooms on the first floor. One did not have a bathroom door. We were told it was on order. Neither of those rooms were satisfactory. We were then offered a larger room on the third floor. What […] we were failed to be advised of was that it was a smoking floor with the exception of a couple of rooms. One of which was ours. As the evening progressed, the smell of smoke in the hallway was not pleasant to non smokers such as my wife and me. Apart from the smoke in the hallway, the mattress sank in the middle making sleep difficult. The blanket was filled with holes from what appeared to be cigarette burns. The bath tub was dirty from the previous guests. The water would not drain out of the bathtub. The water in the sink was very slow draining. While the carpeting looked fairly new, it was stained with mud in the main downstairs hallway and going up the first few stairs. Service was extremely courteous, the desk clerk saw us and gave us a convenient room on the first floor near the desk rather than making us climb to the second floor. The room was quite similar to other two stars we've stayed in, but with one bed instead of two. Ideal for us, but not for everyone. The location was very convenient. I travel alot and this is the first time I was not given a non smoking room as requested. I tried to explain that I am allergic to cigarette smoke but it made no difference. I also asked for a king size bed which I did not get. I am very upset with their service.

Stayed here for 1 night only. Pretty shoddy. Room was smokey, even-though we asked for NON-smoking. A/C was loud. Very close to railroad track. Old and run down. For what we have paid, I could get something much nicer in a bigger city (e.g vegas). Would not stay here again...

I never do this..but it needs to be said...this hotel is gross. The carpets in our room were filthy, water (or whatever) marks were left on the headboard, walls needed cleaning...our bed had a regular bed sheet for the mattress...tough times can't provide a fitted one...the Super 8 in Middletown is no better...note to self...if I consider Super 8 again...I […] will have my head examined! The hotel didn't have a room ready for us and when they did it was the wron size room. We then had to wait for an extra hour to het a room that would fit the people we brought and the size room I reserved over a month earlier!!
