Volcano Forest Inn - Volcano

Hotel had no locks on rooms and breakfast wasn't really much. You cant drink the tap water, bur cooler in kitchen. Not sure if typical of all volcano area accommodations. Convenient to volcano.

Our hosts were very welcoming and the house was comfortable and we were given lots of helpful information about the area. This enabled us to see a lot and not waste time. The driveway is hard to find at night so get clear directions.

Newer and well maintained, but a bit hard to find. GPS got us close, but keep an eye out for a small sign in front of a long driveway. Very secluded and quiet. We stayed in the Ginger room which was very large and had two Queen beds. Nice (knee-see) met us at the door and gave us a tour of the B and B. Very nice kitchen and dining area. Very close to […] Volcanoes National Park, which is why we chose this location. Nice was quick to give dining and park viewing suggestions. Be sure you go to the park after dark to see the glow from Kileaua and observe the stars. We wanted to get a REAL early look at the park, do early that we'd have to miss the 8 AM breakfast. Great place to stay for a quick rest from the VNP. The room was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. The owners are very friendly and told me exactly where to find things and even gave recommendations to some great food around the area. It's a private home style with pretty moden and newly remodeled facilities. Big open kitchen and counter top, large bedrooms with movable electric heaters, very spcious and comfortable. (Just that we arrived too later and left too early, didn't realy enjoy long enough of all it provides.) The only drawback is it's hard to find if without GPS (that our […] car did not equiped with, and the house is deep in the woods), but at our request, the owner came out to lead us to the house. It's very close to the Volcano Park entrance in the Volcano Village. It's very easy to drive into the park even in the midnight. Breakfast is included. It was a little hard to find the hotel's driveway because the sign is very little and no light and unpaved driveway, but otherwise it was good. I wish they provided a microwave at the hotel, just in case. I love the Ohelo berry jam that their friend made and it was nice to share w/ us.

Very convenient location for the volcano park, and a comfortable stay with a warm welcome from our hosts. However, oddly for a B&B, there was no breakfast.

The place is clean, in great location in town and close to the Volcano National park. Very simple interior, without any character at all ( some minimal artwork on the walls would be nice- it doesn't need to be expensive...). They only provide coffee in the morning, no more baked goods as was mentioned in the past reviews, so bring snacks.

Large airy room. Very friendly and helpful hosts. True to it's name, this is a lodge 100 yds back in the forest, off the main village road. When we visited the hosts couldn't offer the breakfast that was included in the Hotels.com listing because the county had decided that week that B&B's needed to have commercial grade kitchens. (!) -So great coffee […] but no food. The "Honeycreeper" room was very nice, but dining room sound carries readily thru the wall; loud guests talking out there woke us somewhere around 6 AM. Our hosts, Drew and Nice' Schultz, were wonderful! They were very hospitable and made us feel at home. The Inn is conveniently located to the Volcano Natl Park. They maintain a spotless BB.

Hotel is in great location relative to the volcano park and 40 minutes from Hilo. Couple of decent restaurants in Volcano so okay to stay there for 2-3 nights which is what we did using the house as a jumping off point for the other side of the island. The house itself a large B&B set back from the road in a secluded forest (so no view) which we found […] maybe a little too quiet and remote but some people might like that sort of thing. Really, a great B&B. There were three couples in our group. Drew and Niecy were very nice-pleasant and informative, but not intrusive. ( Be sure and ask them about their previous career as Marilyn and Brando). They told of us a great place for breakfast at the National Park. With the time zone difference, we were up VERY early, but Drew baked a fabulous […] walnut cake to tide us over and prepped the coffee machine so it was ready in just a minute. Rooms were fabulous. The only drawback to the inn is that there was not an indoor common seating area other than at the dining table-but we had a great time sitting on the porch. We arrived in Hilo and stayed one night in Volcano Forrest Inn. If we hadn't booked the other hotel in Kona already, we would have stayed longer. Carlos (Inn keeper) was really nice and he made super good breakfast (best coffee I ever had). Rooms were clean and quiet. It was a bit cold but we had a heater so it was no problem. As it is located in the […] Volcano National Park, you just have to drive short distances to get to very cool hikes (as we found out later). We would definitely recommend this place. At first sight the hotel can seem to be very remote, but it is actually with driving distance not only to Volcano national park, but also to several other points of interest (including Hilo and Cook Monument). Peaceful place to relax at, but not for those of you that want a lot of activities at the hotel itself.

Das Hotel ist eher eine Pension als ein Hotel aber der Besitzer ist super nett und unser Zimmer war sauber, mit TV, Kühlschrank und Badezimmer ausgestattet. Das "Hotel" recht schwer zu finden, da das Schild von der Strasse nur schlecht lesbar ist und die Zufahrt eigentlich nur ein Waldweg ist. Ansonsten liegt das Hotel wie der Name schon sagt mitten […] im Wald und ist sehr ruhig gelegen. Es gibt keine Schlüssel oder ähnliches. Alles SAVE laut dem Besitzer:-) Vom Hotel bis zum Volcanoes National Park sind es ca. 2 Minuten mit dem Auto, also TOP LAGE... Wer das private und einfache Ambiente mag, für den ist das "Hotel" zu empfehlen. Wer auf Komfort, Luxus etc. aus ist, sucht sich besser ein richtiges Hotel! Wir würden jedenfalls wieder buchen.
