My 13 year old son and I visited Rome and wanted a place with a bit of room space and easy walking distance to some of the areas we wanted to see. The... Aventino Hotel fit the bill and is in a very quiet neighbourhood which overlooks Trastevere from the Aventine hill. Close to both Pyramide and Circo Massimo metro stops with easy access to Trastevere. 5 minute taxi from Ostiense train station. We walked everywhere and found we could get to the Vatican in 40 minutes, the Forum in 12 and Campo Di Fiori in 25-30, depending on our level of distraction. A very nice walk is along the river below street level. A beautiful park of orange trees was 2 minutes up the hill. A good continental breakfast of fresh baked goods, fruits, cheeses, sliced meat as well as cereal and yogurt set us up for each day (alomg with a couple cappuccinos).
