I stayed at this Courtyard by Marriott during a business trip to JMU, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst Courtyard experiences I’ve ever had.
When I first checked in, I was assigned a room directly next to the elevator. I immediately went back down to request a different room, and while the front desk agent did switch me, her attitude made the interaction less than welcoming.
The new room was no better. It smelled strongly of mildew, felt dirty, and was very outdated. Honestly, it had more of a motel feel than what I would expect from a Marriott property. I couldn’t even relax because it gave me the uneasy feeling that I might bring bedbugs home.
For context, I stayed at another Courtyard in Lynchburg the night before and had an amazing experience there. The difference between the two properties was night and day.
I hope management takes the feedback seriously because this location does not meet the standards I’ve come to expect from Courtyard by Marriott.
