Looking for some great local nightlife experiences in Daegu? To take in all of Daegu’s nightscapes from a single vantage point, get yourself to Apsan Observatory. Surrounded by mountains, Daegu shines in the night and looks downright magical. Apsan Observatory is also famous for stunning views of the sunrise.

If gorgeous, fairytale-like views are more your style, then Suseong Recreation Area and Songhae Park are highly recommended. They’re modest, not glamorous, but the night view of the Gothic Gyesan Catholic Cathedral will surely leave you with an indelible image. Here are some of the best night-time views Daegu has to offer.

    Suseong Recreation Area

    Fun recreation and gorgeous nightscapes

Suseong Lake is an artificial lake that is a place of fun and relaxation for locals with Arte Suseong Land and Suseong Recreation Area nearby. At some point in history, it was created to supply water for agriculture during the Japanese occupation period.

At night, colourful lights reflect off of Suseong Lake, providing some spectacular night-time scenery. From May to October, colourful musical fountains perform four times a day, making it even more eye-catching. If you’re travelling to Daegu, don’t miss the spectacular night-time views here.

    Apsan Observatory

Take in the beauty of the Daegu basin

Daegu's Ap Mountain is relatively low and easy to climb slowly, but if you want to enjoy the night-time views, take a ride on the cable cars. When you climb the observatory, you can see the Daegu basin in all its glory.

When the sun sets, the ridgeline disappears and only downtown Daegu shines brightly, giving you a unique view. It becomes more beautiful as the night grows darker, so it’s better to go up after sundown rather than waiting for the sun to go down.

    Gyesan Catholic Cathedral

    A beautiful Gothic landmark

Gyesan Catholic Cathedral was originally built in a traditional Korean style but was rebuilt to its current form in 1902 after it was destroyed by fire. Over 100 years old, this cathedral home to the cathedra for all Daegu-area cathedrals.

The cathedral is the first Gothic cathedral in the area, and its architectural beauty is highlighted subtly at night without the need for special colours. Geundae Alley is nearby, which is great for an evening stroll.

    Songhae Park

A scenic spot with mountain backdrops

Songhae Park's Ogyon-ji Pond area has beautiful flowers that are always in bloom, and windmills, wooden decks, and watermills vie for your attention as you walk around. When the sun goes down, however, many of the sculptures, including Songhae Park Tree, light up in various colours to enhance the night-time scenery.

There are no tall buildings around, and the light pollution is minimal, so you can fully appreciate the feast of lights created in the park.
