It's perhaps best known for its Friday Night Jump Up street party that goes on every week. Rum shops dot the streets, as do local barbecue joints, bars, and pubs. You can walk the Rodney Bay jetty or climb to the observation deck for stunning Caribbean views.

    Local resorts offer photo opportunities of sailboats in the bay, while the beach is calm and serene as well as quite family-friendly. Gros Islet is located near the northern tip of the island.

    Castries is a bustling small town filled with independent shops, peaceful and quaint town squares, outdoor markets, and a plethora of cultural experiences to enjoy on your island travels. Derek Walcott Square in town is marked by a gigantic 400-year-old Samaan tree. It's all located along the island's northwest coast.

    The town hosts 2 bazaar-type markets. The first is the Castries Central Market, which offers a farmers market experience and is a century old. Across the street is the Craft Market that is huddled under a big red roof. Both get crowded and vibrant on Saturday mornings. Here you can get local arts and crafts as well as exotic fruits, vegetables, and prepared foods.
