Novum Hotel Vitkov

The staff were very friendly and they did their best to fulfil our requests. The location is very convenient, just a few metres from the tram stop. However, check-in is at 14:00 so we had to wait for a couple of hours to check-in and check-out is 2 and a half hours before check-in, which is very inconvenient. The bed linen had holes, one of the towels had permanent stains on it and the TV was at least 20 years old. It is a shame because Vitkov Hotel is a landmark for Vitkov and Zizkov and its current condition is below average.

Great deal, nice people. 15 minutes away from city center by public transportation.

The 1st room had a broken bed frame. It hung on the ground. The final room had a very big water leak under the shower, which covered much of the bathroom floor. Maid service was not acceptable. After no service 3 days at all and no change of sheets, I finally asked to have fresh sheets/pillow case on day 11. The breakfast was quite nice with eggs, fresh fruit, various breads, cereal, vegetables and yogurts served. The tea was much better than the coffee!

I booked here because I got a good deal (under 30 Euros single occupancy) so overall I think it was good value for money. I liked the view out over the north of the city, the room was a good size and bedding of good quality. There were curtains that (for the first time on my trip!) shut out the light and aircon. The TV had BBC worldwide and Eurosport which I appreciated. However the room had definitely seen better days; the shower basin which was damaged had been patched rather than replaced, the aircon didn't work effectively and there were small rips in the curtains. I had the window open to keep a comfortable temperature and it is a very noisy area with trams running pretty much running all hours. Pricing of things like breakfast (8.5 Euros for a very standard Prague buffet) and water (3 Euros for the bottle in the room) was much too high. Young, helpful staff were always available at reception. The place is well away from the centre but right by a major tram intersection so as long as you are comfortable with the tram network its fine.

Air conditioning on the fifth floor on a hot day (30+ Celsius degrees) was really weak. Sheets on one bed were not changed when I entered the room first time. There was actual human hair on the bed, on multiple places. This put sheets laundry and change in question.
