Great hotel for a weekend getaway
Beautiful hotel lobby as you enter to a warm and friendly greeting by the hotel staff. Our room was large and clean. The beds were super comfortable. The bathroom had a good shower. They had a feature I wish more hotels would have, a wall mounted light up magnifying mirror. Since there were 4 of us we needed more towels and wash clothes delivered to the room as it was stocked for two. It was the fastest housekeeping delivery ever! We ate at the restaurant, Mr. D's. Although a bit over priced, the food was very good! We did not use any other amenities this time. The next time we are in Albany we will definitely stay here.

Lovely second stay at this hotel
wonderful stay and we loved the location of our room as we were able to walk from our room onto the courtyard area. Staff was very responsive. The drainage of our tub was slow with the stopper in place. It was fine when removed, but the drain beneath seemed dirty.

The service at the Desmond is top notch. Personable front desk, hard workers cleaning and the food at Mr.D was superb. The only critique I had is I wish they had a comforter on bed inaddittion to fitted sheets. Hotel centrally located near Airport and driving distance from restaurants.

We booked a Duplex 1 King Bed Suite, expecting the open loft-style layout with a spiral staircase as depicted in the photos. Instead, we were given a two-floor room with a standard staircase and no open layout, which was not what we paid for. The room itself was in poor condition—dirty, musty, and outdated, with stains throughout. The bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned, with hair left from a previous guest, and the amenities were very basic. When we complained to the front desk, they told us that next time we should call the hotel directly to ensure we get the room we booked, which was frustrating. No one books a room expecting to receive something different. We were also told the room type we booked was unavailable, which felt like a complete bait-and-switch. To make matters worse, the property had a concerning atmosphere, with people lingering in hallways and sitting in stairwells and the lobby. This stay was far from the experience we expected, and we won’t be returning.
