Hopefully this was just an ‘off weekend’.
Let me preface this by saying we’ve stayed in many B&B’s. We love interacting with the hosts and other guests. It’s such a treat waking up to the smell of coffee brewing and breakfast being prepared. I see all the great reviews, so maybe this was just an off time for the hostess. First impression upon walking in was like walking into a vacant home. Very sparse furniture and/or no furniture. Not a very welcoming/warm feeling. The host lives off site so breakfast is not made on site. No problem with that, but the 1st morning there was no coffee. I couldn’t find the coffee nor the filters. Host breezed in about 7:50 and I mentioned the coffee situation. She showed me where she keeps the coffee, with no apology. She put out our breakfast and left the premises. Our food was cold and we had to microwave it. It felt like a self-service B&B. No conversation or interaction with us. The 2nd day, same situation…get up and make your own coffee. Another couple (from France) were bewildered as well. We all started on our coffee and the host came in a little after 8. No apologies or interaction with any of us. She put our breakfast on the plates and left. We all just kind of shrugged our shoulders. Luckily, we had great conversation with the other guests, which made it feel more like a B&B. Overall, very disappointed. We felt more like an imposition than valued guests.
