No hot water. No basic hotel amenities.
Staff not very inviting on check in or check out. Didn’t even ask us how the stay was. No hot water at all in room. TV was tiny and old analog cable. Nice property, but not worth $200 a night with limited amenities.

2/10 Poor

No heat, no elevator but plenty of dirt and mold.
After check in we were told carry our luggage across their drive, go down a hill and in a side entrance of a different building. We were pu in Rm 7525 which they said was on 2nd floor without any elevators. Do to the age of the building and the hill it was built on, we had to carry all our belongings up 3 flights of steps and down 1 flight of steps to reach our room at the back end of the building. When I explained about a recent hip and knee replacement later on and no elevator, we were advised that since we used a second party to book the room (Hotels.com) that they were responsible for making special accommodations. During a record cold spell here in Florida, our room did not have functioning heat despite 3 separate calls to and visits from the young woman working the lobby check in. We were told it would take 20 minutes for the wall unit to come on. We were offered additional blankets on our last call to add to the 2 sheets, 2 blankets and a bedspread that we had added to the bed. My wife kept mentioning a musty smell in the room. The blinds on the windows couldn’t be open by the pull cords, but when I manually opened them we found the source of the smell. All the single pane windows were dripping g wet on the inside, the wooden frames were wet and filthy with dirt and mold. This is what a couple of hundred dollars got us at the Lakeside Inn. I asked the front desk to notify the manager who was not available. Not acceptable.

Lovely old inn but both mornings we were not able to get hot water for showers. They worked on the issue but could not resolve before we had to leave.

Horrible stay
Horrible horrible horrible. I will never stay here again. The customer service at night was excellent but during thw day was horrible. Room was disappointing. No where to plug in my phone. No toiletries. The parking was a bit scary;back lot no lights not safe for a young woman to be at night.

We were not good enough
This hotel is not worth staying at. Although the view is very nice the hotel front desk staff is a nightmare. They were curt and rude. Our stay was interrupted by a VERY LOUD wedding party. At 11:00 pm and 2:00 AM. When we told the front desk they couldn't care less. It was obvious that the other party were far more important than us. Do not waste your money or time here.

Our Christmas treat bummer
We stayed in the Sunrise Cottage. The bed was very firm and uncomfortable and there was an ice machine outside the room making a loud whirling sound all night long.

In general the hotel is good, the location is excellent, the attention of the reception staff is very good however it needs to modernize the rooms a little for greater comfort with coffee makers and refrigerators maybe but in general very good option to visit.

Beautiful property; great location; No sleep!
This hotel is super historic which means the buildings are old. It is sooooo loud in the hallways and through the walls and ceiling. That made it not so enjoyable. No sleep at all.

A nice weekend, BUT...
My wife and I have visited Mt. Dora many times, but we had never stayed at the Lakeside Inn until this weekend. I figured it was worth it to at least try it out once. First, the positives --the location is beautiful, the grounds are well kept, and the view is OUTSTANDING. The front desk staff were lively and helpful, even on Thanksgiving, when I know no one really wants to be working. Our room was a decent size, clean, and the closet was much larger than most. Nice chairs and table, and the refrigerator we requested was ready to go. (we always have leftovers :-) ) I did like being able to park at the Inn and then walk everywhere, especially when there was a lot going on. BUT... Getting the luggage and bags in and out of the room is frankly a nightmare. No luggage racks, a more than decent walk from where you park, especially when we checked in, (the area where you could park to get closer to the rooms was blocked off when we checked in) and no elevators. I am not in the best of shape admittedly, and dragging the suitcases up the stairs to the Gables 2nd floor was rough. Unfortunately, we tend to bring a bunch of stuff, and always buy more when in Mt. Dora, so it was challenging when checking out as well. The bed was OK, but a bit hard, and it creaked when getting in and out. I can tell you there were signs for Quiet Hours, but I don't think there was much security going down the halls at night to enforce. Refrigerators you have to ask for, and microwaves I do not
