Hotel de Vigny

The staff were very friendly, they upgraded our room to a bigger room on higher floor. Overall nice hotel with great location.

The person who checked us in at the hotel was very pleasant and did everything at the last minute to accommodate us. His name is Francis. The hotel as well as the room was great.

I was so excited to stay in a 5 star hotel in a swank area of Paris. So you can imagine when my driver pulled up to your hotel, I was horrified to see the plywood covering the revolving door to the hotel. I thought - this must be a mistake. This is not my hotel.... but alarmingly, it was. Then I thought, this must have just happened today- the broken glass, to which your front office staff told me it happened months ago. Traveling alone as a woman, I can honestly say I felt unsafe in your hotel. My friends who live in Paris - and picked me up at the hotel - were worried about me. They could not believe I was staying under these conditions. It didn’t end there, unfortunately. My room was totally unrecognizable from the pictures on the website. To call this false advertising is an understatement. I was, quite frankly, angry at how much I was misled. I inquired with your staff, and said “this is not a 5 star hotel” as advertised to which they apologized and said “we are sorry madam.” I checked the designation again and also duly noted the affiliation with Preferred Hotels. As I formerly conducted inspections on SLH properties, I know the standard of your hotel is completely unacceptable. I would further note the toilet paper holder fell off the wall, my outlet to charge my phone didn’t work, and the shower was broken

It was my first time to stay at the Hotel de Vigny. Unfortunately, there was certainly room for an improvement. Firstly, when I arrived at the Hotel at 1 pm, I asked a receptionist if my room by any chance is ready, as I had a meeting at 2 pm. The lady did not even check the availability of the rooms on her system, she just replied ,,sorry the check-in is at 3 pm''. Secondly, when I checked in, I called the housekeeping and asked for an iron. To my surprise they told me that they do not provide this service in their hotel due to the safety reasons. I was so frustrated as I thought it is a 5-star hotel. After an argument over the phone, I explained that I have a very important event in a few hours, and my clothes are not in the wearable condition. Luckily, they picked up few items and said that they will do an ironing themselves. Next morning I went to speak with the manager of the hotel, he was very nice and friendly, he agreed that it is not right and that I am not the only one who complains. He assured that the ironing will be free of charge and asked if I would like to iron anything else. During my check-out, I received a bill in the sum of 175 euros for the ironing service. I was very surprised again. I explained the whole situation to the receptionist, she phoned to the manager, then told me that the ironing was done in the hotel next door, thus she can only offer a discount. I was not aware of this initially. After the negotiation, the bill was cleared.

Pros - the location is great and the staff was very nice. Cons - this hotel is a bit tired and the carpet in my room was very old and needs to be replaced. It was also clear that this hotel used to allow smoking. Upon entering the room, it smelled over sterilized and then as that smell wore off, it was of stale cigarette smoke. Again, nice and helpful staff and great location but the smell really got to me.
