A great find for a budget trip to Manhattan, the Chelsea had some nice features, a few not unexpected shortcomings and some small annoyances that seem easy to fix.
The good stuff: excellent location, wonderful staff, clean and modern look to the room, comfy mattress.
Not so good but not unexpected for the price: the walls are thin and the pipes are old, which made for a noisy night. We played some green noise on Spotify after the first night and slept well.
Small annoyances that could easily be fixed: no bedside table on one side, broken towel rack and clothes hooks in the bathroom and, last-and-worst, the fitted sheet was too small and kept coming off the mattress.
The Chelsea is a short walk to Washington Park and Greenwich Village and much more affordable than anything you’d find in those areas.
