Astrid Hotel am Kurfürstendamm

The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful

Hotel is pretty old, room not comfortable at all and if you don't have ear plugs with you it's impossible to sleep due to the street noises. Breakfast was horrible, rotten fruits and cold coffee. But worst part was a woman (with obvious mental problems) who was harassing the guests with a huge dog, making a scene at midnight and the owners didn't do anything about it.

Excellent location, helpful staff. Loved the lift, ample breakfast. Lots of restaurants nearby and ice-cream shops, very close to the Sbahn.

The hotel is in the upper floors of a building from the 1890s, with all that implies: 12 foot ceilings, decorated with moldings etc:I like it, but it is clearly not the hotel for people who prefer the modernity of a holiday inn. The elevator is a historic piece where one still has to close outer and inner door by hand; it is allowed for four persons, but really just the right size for one person and his luggage. I found the single room very convenient for me, and the location is also very convenient, a few steps from Ku'damm and bus 109 to the Tegel airport. However, there are some points of criticism: mainly that the person handling the check-in was quite slow; before me were teachers checking a school class in, and I spent twenty minutes waiting in the check-in queue. The elevator was one day out of service, and the hallway leading to the hotel-room is (especially after the big staircase) a narrow dark cave winding to the rooms: it needs at least better light.

We spent 3 days in Berlin. The hotel is very old, older than we thought it would be. The elevator was a struggle to figure out how to work. The breakfast was ok. The weather was unusually hot and there is no air conditioning. The area is good, very close to the fancy Kurfürstendamm, but far away from historical sites so we had to take taxis. Overall was ok.

Lovely hotel in classy part of city. Easy access and staff were very helpful and friendly even at 2am when we needed a cup of tea!

excellent location, efficient staff, comfy room, maybe not 5 *****, but who cares if everything else is all you relly need!

Please ignore the complaints that the Televisions are small and the decore is old fashioned. The staff are friendly the rooms are large and airey. Sound insulation is good as there was some noisy people next to me and once I shut the door I could not hear a word. It is a family run hotel so none of the corporate blandness you get with chains. The lift is really old from 1904 and has a wooden seat which always made me smile. It is only 4 minutes walk from the S Bahn. For me it was a good find.
