AX │ The Palace

I stay here routinely as it is a very comfortable hotel situated right in the middle of Sliema where my work needs me to be located. The people are fantastic, the parking is excellent, the food at the hotel is good, the two pools are great. Rooms are comfortable, large and quiet. I honestly do not have a negative thing to say.

We highly recommend this hotel to couples who stay in Malta and enjoys an active vacation. The hotel us conveniently located, just a few minutes walk away from the beaches on one side and from the ferry to Valletta on the other side. The hotel staff is absolutely friendly and willing to help. They deserve a big thank you! The room is very spacious and beautifully designed. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and bar with the music. Although we didn’t try the restaurants they always had something special and they had great ambiance. We were just unlucky with the room upgraded and I feel we could’ve received a room on a higher floor with a double bed. There was some kind of flooding in the second floor which smelled terribly. The whole floor should have been closed. Unfortunately we discovered this only after all was unpacked and didn’t request to move.

So this was my first time travelling since covid earlier in the year and I was hugely excited given I was a frequent traveller before. I was also curious to see how hotels were adapting under the current situation. I have zero criticisms for AX. My room was completey spotless. The organisation for the breakfast given it was a buffet setup should be used as an example on how to get it right for others reopening. All food served by masked and gloved staff with a one way system in place, but you could easily see all the choices still. The reception was warm and welcoming even if staff are masked, you have the sanitiser & notices everywhere - they're all still making it feel fun and informal even with all the reminders of what we're currently dealing with. As a side note WOW that rooftop. The photos don't do this justice & it was the photos that drew me in!! The terrace is way larger than you realise so you can pick loungers in the shade, away from the pool or soak up the vitamin D. The pool itself was spotless and staff were on hand to thoroughly clean down any loungers once people left them, they then fold them down so you immediately know they've been cleaned. The bar service is like being at your local, they're so friendly. Plus happy hour with this view is always going to be a winner!

The hotel is just lovely

I extended my stay not once but TWICE! I didn't want to leave. The staff provided top notch service, they're attention to detail is next level, and the facilities were better than expected. Absolutely loved this place, highly recommend.

It was a bit disappointing to find that some restaurants and bars were closed. We only found out that TemptAsian was closed after planning and getting ready to eat there. So it would have been helpful if this was explained during checkin. The service was excellent and everyone went out of their way to help us. Especially JR and Ana May.

Great location! Lovely sauna and swimming pool. Tasty meals. Very sweet complement from hotel (bottle of wine)

Nice stay, welcoming hotel and located perfectly for my needs. Little inconsistent with the replacement of water/coffee etc in the room. Minor point.

Very nice hotel and very good service. Reception were very friendly. However, to enter the executive room one needs to pass from a narrow corridor. Then you have access to a large nice room. Pity that corridor!
