The Grange Hotel

Just shocking

We booked a last minute 1 night stay the day before. The Grange staff were very helpful when I rang to confirm we would be bringing a dog. On arrival, COVID measures were clearly in place including keys sealed in a bag etc. Room had a dog cushion in it and was a good size. Tea and coffee available in roomThe restaurant had just reopened and we enjoyed a lovely meal and drinks from the bar sitting in the garden. Breakfast was brought to our room - cereal and bacon and egg sandwich. Overall we wish the hotel well and would definitely recommend to fellow dog owners.

A very tired hotel, which needs updating. Only one person doing reception, bar, dining so slow service. Asked for a fan for the room but it never appeared. I had thread bear towels in my room and the carpet hadn't been vacuumed. My room was over the bar area so very noisy well past midnight. Breakfast was a joke, cornflakes in a box served in a tinfoil container, no coffee or juice. Only had I coffee sachet in bedroom, so that went straight away. No decaf coffee available. I appreciate the Covid situation but that is no reason to give your customers a poor experience. Overall a poor experience and I won't be returning.

Service was excellent, the food was also great and enough of it and value for money. Will be back again if working in the area and now in the diary of favourites.

bearing in mind the hotel was already paid for in advance, the receptionist asked for another £20! I said that I pay for food as I go and would not need a £20 deposit for any 'incidentals', he seemed to have a problem with this, then stated that I would get the money back in 2 weeks! Isn't that 'hedging'? So who gets the interest on the money? I refused to pay - he then said it was for using the 'house' - i.e. thats the only place you can get wifi and he expected me to pay for the priviledge. I was then called shortly afterwards, telling me I had parked in his wife's car park space! Seriously?! I stay in hotels EVERY week and never have I seen such a "jobsworth". Will not recommended hotel to anybody. They really ought to take some soft-skills training.

Both evening meal and breakfast excellent, staff attentive, room clean although in need of update. Hotel is a little more isolated than expected but in a lovely setting.

Very tired and run down. Threadbare carpet, garden furniture falling to pieces. Mould round the bathroom tiles , bed very uncomfortable, can feel springs through mattress.

Really charming - bit tired on the decor BUT I had a lovely stay. Went for a christmas party - great food , great service - lovely staff. Nice and cosy and not too many people packed in ! unlike other venues I have been too. Nice room - warm,clean and an excellent breakfast in the morning .

My accommodation was up a fire escape in an out building, was poorly lit getting there so in pitch black wearing a suit was not impressed with Walking through mud. Room itself was small and uncomfortable. Food was night but only stayed overnight so didn’t really have time to look at anything else
