Villa Herencia Hotel

Overall I do not complain of the staff once I was there, but this place should not be considered a hotel. This is not a place where you walk into a lobby and get greeted by a receptionist, instead just find a lock on the door and nobody to answer the phone to help you get in. I ended up calling AARP travel center and they were able to connect someone. Once in there there was no hot water, no fridge or ice, and a very hard bed. The place is beautiful, but the management sucks.

Beautiful room in a great location. Check in was a little challenging as the late check-in policy wasn't clear however this was on Expedia and not the hotel. When we arrived we were locked out for a bit while while someone tried to help us over the phone. Sadly, whoever we spoke with wasn't very helpful and kept getting really frustrated with us for not knowing our room's name (Expedia doesn't give you that info). We kept giving him our confirmation number and names but he still couldn't find us in the system to figure out which room we were in. The following day our key stopped working and we couldn't find anyone to help us get a new one. Thankfully our cell plan worked while here, but internet logins (that we found in the general area, there wasn't any info in our rooms) didn't work so might be problematic for travelers who are on an international plan and reliant on wifi. Those weird hiccups aside it was a really nice spot with lots of character in a charming neighborhood.

The property was incredible when it comes to location and character! The room was beautifully decorated and clean. I loved the charm of the upstairs terrace and inner courtyard. Important note that there is no street parking allowed by non-residents, so you will need to park elsewhere and walk. We chose La Puntilla parking and it was convenient enough. Also important, there is no coffee on site, so you will need to find a nearby restaurant in the morning. Our only challenges were check in and communication with the management team. Upon arrival the door was locked and no one would answer the phone number on the door. We finally called their sister hotel and they provided a code to get inside. There were two envelopes available with a key to check ourselves in, but there was no name listed on either. Apparently we chose wrong as the first room already had people in it. So, we went back and got the second envelope/key and made it into our room. I also attempted to contact the hotel a few different times on Facebook Messenger, and while they did respond, the timing was very slow. This is all likely just a hiccup due to Covid, but they were slight annoyances that could have been avoided. I would very highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone traveling to Old San Juan!! We would be thrilled to stay here again in the future!

We were blown away from our room! It was absolutely beautiful. Check in was made simple as we came in past business hours. Room was spotless and had great air conditioning. Walking distance from the must see’s in Old San Juan. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Adorable boutique hotel where several of our wedding guests and my husband’s parents stayed for the weekend. They have a beautiful courtyard and lovely rooms with super comfy beds! The service is wonderful and highly recommend staying here! Perfect location too for walking to restaurants and nightlife!

It may be difficult for those who are not as ambulatory to stay there is my only caution.

Charming heritage Hotel in old San Juan. Close to sights, shops and restaurants

We felt the hotel had a lot of history, loved the centre courtyard and especially the roof top terrace. Our room was small but interesting, lots of old world furniture with a lovely 4 poster bed. Continental breakfast was good. Staff were very helpful and accommodating. Located right in the heart of Old San Juan, close to shopping, restaurants and the sites.
