The Olde Bell

The hotel is lovely and service is excellent. Our room was a luxury one, including a roll-top bath and a four poster bed, but it felt a little too sparse to be luxury or romantic. There were few soft furnishings (e.g. no rug/carpet, blinds rather than curtains) and no pictures in the room to give it a more homely feel.

We attended a party at lunch and were able to do an early check in prior to the party Loved the shaker style of the room and roomy bathroom

We booked the Olde bell because we stayed here before but this time they put us in a room opposite the main building which had no character and did not refelect the hotel we booked !! Shocking size room and the beds very very uncomfortable and we could not wait to check out. We were not even asked on leaving - how was your stay sir ? as normal quality hotel reception staff ask. They were not interested. Its a shame that such a old well known hotel put us in such a shabby cheap room when the hotel was obviously not full.

I've stayed here before and it was nice, however this stay was dismal. I was in the most expensive room they had, which was nice, but like other rooms, located next to a set of heafty fire doors (they're all throught the property) which make a thundering sound every time they open and close, which is all night. I'd have had a better sleep in a tent next to the M4. The room was boiling with no way to turn the heat down. To top it off, I had to wait 25 minutes for an iron to be brought to my room in the morning making me rather late for work. Wont be staying again!

I stayed here for two nights on business. I frequent Maidenhead often so have tried a number of hotels in the area. It's safe to say that I won't be staying at The Olde Bell again. Let me start by saying that the staff I interacted with were mostly helpful, but aren't provided the tools that they need for success. The first night was fine, I got to my room late, woke up and had breakfast - all was well. However, on the second night I was assigned a different room (I'd booked both nights separately so opted for a 'superior room' on the second). The Hotels.com description said that the room came with a bathtub, upon arrival I found this was not the case. I went to reception to address this and found there was no room with this and was assured that this would be sorted during checkout (it wasn't) I then ordered some food to my room, after an hour and ten minutes I went downstairs to find out where the food was. I was assured it would only be ten minutes more. After twenty minutes the food arrived. If my expectations were that the room not as described and a long wait on food, then my stay would have been find. The whole experience was substandard - I'll pick somewhere else to stay in future.

There was no hot water in the first room we had. We asked for another room and they said there weren’t any. We have then a couple of hours to get a plumber who did not turn up 10.30pm they decided to give us another room with hot water!!

The room was spartan. We had to go to reception to ask for the amenities as listed on the website. The staff was not friendly. The restaurant served seriously over cooked food. We will never stay here again.

1st room tv didn’t work, changed room faulty door lock and phone not working. If it was found out in the middle of the night who knows what could have happened. Nice room good breakfast apart from that.

Lovely quiet village setting. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Rooms didn’t quite fill their potential but non the less were of a good size and clean. Good selection for breakfast and accommodating if you’d prefer something slightly different. Not a lot of choice for evening meal however, can highly recommend the pub 100 yards up the road for something different - The Rising Sun. Thai night was exceptional!
