The Station Hotel

Carpets were trip hazard since ridden up on 1st floor. Wallpaper peeling, bathroom fixtures damaged, areas grubby. Breakfast awful : greasy and horrible. Place was not very clean. People wandering around UN masked. Cleaning not done properly (antibacterial sprays all have a length of time they need to be on a surface to kill bugs, usually between 2 and 15 mins. Staff were wiping straight off). Only positive was the receptionist was a polite, helpful young woman.

Very poor experience. Waited 15 minutes at reception. Ended up walking around looking to be checked in. Hotel is in need of refurbishment. First room I was given was not cleaned from previous guest. Second room bed uncomfortable, tap has a constant drip.

Hotel very old fashioned looks like it was due for a modernisation project in the 1950’s but they never got around to it. Breakfast dried up buffet, terrible.

Cheery and very helpful staff, cleanliness was good Food below par Plumbing needs sorted in room 38, no hot water in sink, no cold water in shower, both taps worked on the bath.

I was upgrade to a lovely room by pleasant lady at reception.

Nobody at reception, waited 15mins before anyone came. Room was absolutely freezing, had to sleep with towels over top of quilt to keep me warm even with two heaters. Single glazed windows made it very noisy. Room very dusty and cushion on the bed had something stuck to it which cleaners kept putting on bed till i threw it in wardrobe. There was something that looked like sick on the portable heater. Blood splattered on arch above bed. Dirty marks up the bathroom wall from the heater. Wallpaper peeling off. Chairs in bedroom filthy. Floors sloped at an angle.....need i go on. Perhaps not all rooms are the same but room 100 was not good.

Old and past it's prime but convenient. Huge rooms and had a sense of the 1940s. Great breakfast.

Bedroom was fine, bathroom a little tired but perfectly functional, main problem was cold breakfast both days.

Hotel was a bit run down . The heating in our room did not work . But got a heater and it was fine. . Staff and food was excellent.

Very good location next to the train station in terms of travel. Friendly staff. Comfortable room and facilities. I especially appreciated the breakfast included.
