Interesting experience with rooms ok but everything looking a bit tired. Overall was not bad having a floating hotel/ boat stay on the river in Gothenburg.

The breakfast as included in the booking is cheap and delicious. The hotel looks stunning from outside. It was a pleasant stay overall.

Room wasn’t available until 4.30pm an hour and a half after expected check in at 3pm. When entering the room we found it very dirty. There was a used sex toy beside bed and blood on a pillow. We hoped to sort it out at reception but the only person available hardly spoke English, didn’t speak Swedish or polish. There were no other rooms available. Very disappointed in our stay and will never visit again

unique & cosy, perfect if you're travelling alone. Staff are very friendly. I loved my stay and would recommend it wholeheartedly. The only downsides were no soap in the dispensers in the bathroom (I did leave a note asking but no result!), and a lot of crashing & banging what sounded like immediately below my room during the nights when the wind got up. It sounded like barrels being hurled around - maybe something had come loose. it was a bit disconcerting!

The best part of this hotel is the unique aspect of it being a boat hotel and the surprisingly large rooms. Once you get over the initial surprise and room sizes things sort of go downhill from there: - dirty, foul common areas (sofas and loungers look like they’ve got 50 years of soot baked into the fabric - smell like it too) - beds feel just as old as the sofas and loungers.. lumpy, saggy, smelly linens and decorative throw pillows that haven’t been cleaned for as long as the hotel has been open - aged, dirty carpets and wall paper/paint - floors are slanted which would be fine if the hotel didn’t feel as though it would sink right into the water - on my way to the room I came across a staff member taking a break in one of the common areas, which would have been totally fine except they didn’t have any shoes or socks on, sort of gross when you think about the dirty carpets Overall this facility is in desperate need of a facelift and good deep clean.

Lamps in the room was not working, the beds were cheap Ikea beds in either ends of the room

Stayed there more than once. Its fun, quiet, comfortable, good breakfast.

We loved our stay on the Barken Viking. Wonderful knowledgeable staff, great service, beautiful spaces to relax, delicious breakfast, awesome room, convenient location close to shops and eats and entertainment.
