Hotel Ultonia

Room was in good condition. It’s very well located to everything you want to do in the city.

Rooftop bar was amazing, great city view and so close to some excellent bars and sightseeing.

The location is really good and the rooms are nice. This visit was different as the Catalan people were protesting . The staff at the hotel were very helpful and always showed concern for our safety . We had no issues fortunately . However our group did witness a disgraceful ambush by the Madrid Police who used batons on youngsters who were running away from whatever the Police had started in the distance . I am 63 and have never seen anything like it . I should add I guess that their orders must have been to leave any tourists alone . The weekend was mainly as usual ..... a lovely old town and very friendly people coupled with good food and wine !

The Ultonia is a pleasant serviceable mid range hotel. We stayed there because it was convenient to walk to the old section of Girona for sightseeing. It is also about a 10 minute walk from the train station .The room was modest but acceptable and the price was also mid range.Just not beautiful or charming.

Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, easy walk to all central attractions and restaurants, would highly recommend.

Hotel was very well priced for the location and amenities. We didn't have the breakfast, it was offered at a discounted price but we went to a local cafe instead. Minutes walk from the old city, shops and places to eat. Room was very clean, bathroom was large and clean. Beds comfortable. Quiet area, but we do travel with earplugs and did use them as hotels usually have lots of people coming and going at different hours. Staff at reception were friendly and made great recommendations for seeing the old city. We used the parking under the hotel, there is parking above ground in the area, we were there for 1 night and appreciated the convenience, and price wasn't unreasonable for hotel parking. There is a terrace on the 4th floor where you can brings drinks to enjoy the outside. We would definitely stay here again.

We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel and would not recommend it nor would we stay here again. We hadn’t realised that the hotel is made up of two buildings, the old 3* part and the newer 4* part. We stayed in the older part so maybe the 4* side is better. Our room was very dated and dirty, we likened it to bad student accommodation! Horrendous tiny low bed which creaked and squeaked every time we moved. We would say this woke us up each time one of us moved however neither of us actually managed to sleep more than 2 hours a night anyway due to constant noise!!! We were on the 5th floor with a tiny window overlooking the main road, all through the night we endured revving motorbikes and boy-racers. Not to mention loud groups of students shouting, screaming and singing at all hours. And these were just the noises from outside the hotel, the noises inside were even worse!! The corridors and rooms echoed so noise travelled far. Doors slamming, guests dropping things on the cheap laminate floor, intimate noises, toilet noises, tv’s and people leaving the roof top bar when it closed each night at 2:30am. The bar is also on 5th floor but in the 4* side so it shows how much sound travels! The only good thing about this hotel was the receptionist who helped us to book a taxi to the airport. Other than that we were glad to leave.

From start to finish our stay was a pleasure. The receptionist was English speaking and very professional and helpful. The hotel is situated 10 minutes walk from the central bus and train station and a convenient 2 minute walk into the centre of Girona. The hotel was comfortable and clean and their was a safe and a well stocked reasonably priced mini bar in a fridge in the room. There are lots of local cafes for breakfast and restaurants for lunch and dinner. Highly recommended.
