Hotel Ficus - Monteverde

Lovely large room and bathroom. Great G&Ts, particularly at happy hour.

Pleasant place to stay on the edge of St. Elena, Monteverde. We were happy with our choice. Only complaint was the bed pillows. Flat and hard as rock!

Great hotel for the price. Free breakfast ( that is delicious) and amazing staff, very helpful to book excursions and travel to next area in costa rica. Rooms are big, and clean. Beds are ok for comfort. Overall very happy and would be happy to stay there again.

High level room with nice views but the walk was very very steep. You need to leave your car lower down. The restaurant tried hard but asked us if we wanted to order so many times when we said we wanted to have a drink first. Breakfast was not nearly as good as in other places, and all cold food was uncovered. The ‘hot’ food was cold.

Rooms are large, as well as the bathroom. Room 244 has a great view of the ocean, as well as the mountains and city

I liked the view and location. Did not like that you could not have food in room because ants showed up. The toilet did not flush well. No A/C

This hotel is very peculiar. You must drive uphill in reverse because it is very difficult to do Kturn on narrow road. Despite being built in 2011 (I read it somewhere) Hotel feels very dated. No AC or ceiling fans. (There was a very tall tower fan in room which helped) Lighting in room felt a little dim during evening / night hours. Had a parade of tiny ants eating dead flies in room (walking under door)... Lots of mosquitoes in the room. Maybe someone left the door open. I woke up to my legs covered in mosquito bites. All in all still a good hotel. Just make sure you spray some repellant before sleeping.

Hotel Ficus has a great central location to Santa Elena and allows for a short walk to the commercial center and restaurants. The staff at the front desk was fantastic and had many great recommendations and were a huge help booking activities. Breakfast was delicious each morning and the wifi worked well. Our room had two beds and they were both very comfortable and fitted with quality linens. We had a small issue with some ants and bugs getting into the room but the staff was quick to respond and resolve the issue.

The hotel is set at the top of a hill so the views from the room are amazing and tremendous sunsets. The room size is large and has a lovely bathroom. There is space to hang clothes and a set of shelves if needed. Also in the room is a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a desk and tv. The hotel is a short walk (5mins) into the small town with restaurants, shops and places to book trips and tours. The staff are really helpful and can organise trips or provide directions. This is a great place if you want a comfortable stay, but not if you want to be in the midst of the rainforest.
