HIDDEN CHARGES! I paid in full for my room through hotels.com, but this dishonest place tacked on a secret $22 "resort fee"! There was no "resort"! I simply needed a place to sleep one night on a business trip. I called customer service and a rude, snippy woman gave me the runaround. Thankfully, hotels.com agreed to refund the money the hotel confiscated against my will. DO NOT STAT HERE!

Exceeded Expectations for the price!
We booked last minute and were looking for something reasonably priced with a small water park for the kids. The lobby was clean and beautifully decorated. The lady who checked us in was kind and inviting. Since it had been unusually hot we asked if the outdoor pool was open. It was not but she said she would request it be opened for us. By the time the kids were ready for the pool, it was on and unlocked. The room we got was upgraded from what we had reserved which was a pleasant surprise. My eight year old son was so impressed and said it was the nicest hotel he had ever been in. The rooms were beautifully renovated, the pools were clean and enjoyable. You can tell they go to great lengths to keep the facility clean. We will definitely be back!

When we checked in the guy at the desk was very friendly. He advised us if we didn’t want maid service to place the do not disturb tag on our door. We did that but they still came in and made the beds. So that was a little concerning on why they still let themselves in to our room even though it said do not disturb. What if we were sleeping

This is a review no one ever wants to hear but this is the truth. If you are going to sleep here, make sure you go on the actual Wingate Hotel website and read all their policies. Dont go off of Expedia room amenities. The reasoning is, I DID NOT GET TO SLEEP HERE. At the hotel checking in, they tell me, there will be a pet fee of $50 per pet, per night. I was fine with that. And then the next thing was, a pet weight limit of 40 lbs and under. One of my dogs was well over 40 lbs. I contacted expedia trying to get a refund cause of all of this. They told me, to get the refund, its up to the Hotel. While i was there, at the front desk. I am watching the front desk person named Anna, which supposedly is manager and 2 other people NOT pick up the phone to talk to Expedia. Expedia then messege me telling them to pick up the phone. I watched them not pick up the phone and watched them walking to the back acting as they didnt hear the phone. I then told them to pick up the phone and asked them why didnt they pick up the phone. She told me and lied to my face saying they picked up the phone. While that was happening, Expedia said to me that there was nothing they can do unless if the hotel agrees to refund. It was so sketchy that the front desk people kept going back and forth. In and out at the front desk to the back of the room behind the front desk. I then left and last min booked at the Motel 6. Hotel was very clean and staff was very friendly. It is in a great part of the Dells and convenient to a lot. If I had to be picky I would say mix up your breakfast with either more options or different options at least ever other day. It was good but we stayed for 5 nights and it was the same each day.

I paid extra for a “suite” but all that meant was they shoved a couch in to the small room. The pool is about a third of the size it looks like in the photos. They use the pool to declare their self a resort and to charge that extra fee. The toiletries were subpar. The stains on the carpet and scratches in the door were presumably because they tout their self as “pet friendly “ but they charge a daily fee per pet rather than a standard fee per stay. There is no pet area. The breakfast buffet was a thunder dome but honestly, that speaks more to the quality of guest not hotel. We won’t be back.
