Fortress Inn Louisbourg

Based on others’ reviews, my expectations were low, but I was delightfully surprised to find a clean (and clean-smelling) room, non-noisy neighbours, strong wifi, helpful staff, and a fridge in my room. Beds were very comfy. Maybe I just got lucky or it had something to do with it being off-season but I would stay there again.

The web-sight lists a restaurant and other amenities. There is none. Also I booked for a single room with one bed and when I arrived the owner? insisted I take a room with two beds. Yes, a room two doors down from the office and all the room cleaning equipment. After I asked him where I could eat supper as the restaurants appear to have closed after 630 pm he failed to mention that none of the restaurants are open at all. I tried to cancel the next night and it took everything to get part of a refund. Would not recommend.

That place was gross, they had people outside in the parking lot smoking drugs. There were stains on the bed sheets.

Our stay was awesome at the hotel Fortress Inn. The hospitality was great, the staff was very kind and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Checked In at 4pm on a long weekend, office door was locked, sign on the door gave a # to call, what if I did not have a phone. Called the number and the only employee on duty answered, he was cleaning rooms, advertised breakfast, restaurant and lounge, all closed because they could not meet covid 19 compliance, one place to eat in Lousiborg and that was a take out food wagon in the town's main court. Someone will soon fall through the floor in the bathroom #36, air conditioner worked, bed was comfortable, advertised a queen and got a double, avoid this place at all costs, could not even get a cup of coffee in Loisbourg Sunday morning, had to go to the cafe at the fort.

During Covid they didn’t provide a continental breakfast, which was really too bad because lots of the restaurants in town are tourist based and therefore didn’t even open this year. When I let the check in person know that I hadn’t known that however, he upgraded us to a bigger room, presumably because we had a baby with us. It’s a nice place to stay for the price.

The motel was clean, but had fewer amenities as compared with other places where we have stayed in the same area, such as no micro-wave oven. I also felt uncomfortable sleeping in the bed, since it did not have a top sheet- just a bottom sheet and duvet.

Quiet location with own entrance to the outside. Pleasant and helpful staff.
