Hotel Zar Mérida

This is a completely bare bones hotel. If you have no other options, I suppose you could survive, but if you want to be comfortable: choose anywhere else. Stains on the curtains, toilet wouldn't flush (and not repaired), no water available in the ENTIRE hotel (told to walk several blocks to convenience store), bed was like a brick and nothing but white cement walls. Not surprisingly, they wouldn't refund my second night.

Great clean hotel with breakfast for a very inexpensive stay great area. Only thing is there is no towels in the room you have to ask at the reception. I totally recommend this hotel!

Great place and very close to the scenic Paseo Montejo and also near the route to Puerto Progreso. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Only issue i had was the a/c unit from the initial room given to me. For those folks that are not fans of humidity overnight, you may have to test out the ac unit prior to fully accepting the room.

It was a bit noisy and there is no hot water but it was quick, cheap, and the AC works great.

Easy location, close from points of interest, and people are so friendly!

Everything es ok excepto hot Water

My husband and I loved everything about our stay at Hotel Zar except for one issue- there's no privacy in the bathroom. The bathroom has a glass door that doesn't reach the ceiling or the floor and there's no fan to muffle the noise. We ended up throwing a towel over the door and turning on the shower when we were using the bathroom so that we had at least a little privacy. For married couples that's probably fine, but I wouldn't recommend staying in the same room with someone who's just a friend.

El hotel se encuentra en excelente ubicación, me agradó que esta céntrico. El personal es amable, el hotel en general mantiene la limpieza del lugar. El único detalle para mí, sería la cama, una más cómoda estaría estupendo.

Lo mejor es que es PET Friendly, a mi perrito le encantó recuerden llevar su camita y su trastecito así como sacarlo a hacer sus necesidades fuera de cuarto todo muy bonito nos encanta quedarnos alojados en El zar

Mi experiencia: Realice la reservación 15 días antes de mi estancia, llamé 3 días antes para confirmarla y no tener problemas. Llegando al hotel la recepcionista no encontraba mi reservación. Sin embargo fue un problema que se resolvió rápidamente. Me asignaron una habitación y me entregaron dos llaves. Cuando llegue a la habitación me lleve la sorpresa de que está ya estaba ocupada (al menos por la maleta y ropa que estaban dentro de ella). Lo notifique inmediatamente y me cambiaron de habitación. En la nueva habitación no funcionaba el aire acondicionado (cosa indispensable en una ciudad con tanto calor). Me cambiaron nuevamente de habitación y otra vez no servía el aire acondicionado...Nuevo cambio de habitación. Siempre fui atendido por la misma recepcionista, quien fue bastante amable y mostraba genuina vergüenza por las condiciones del establecimiento. La cuarta habitación fue la final, ya funcionaba el aire acondicionado. Las camas son sumamente incómodas, la puerta del baño es un especie de cancel que no cierra completamente y el agua para bañarse está helada. Les recomiendo ampliamente evitar este lugar.
