Sakura Terrace The Atelier

Really stylish hostel not too far from Kyoto Station. Great attention to detail and friendly staff. Buffet coupon if you stay more than 3 days is a really nice perk!

I loved everything about Sakura Atelier ! It by far exceeded my expectations

Unformal and cozy place with great service. Small rooms, but really good layout and looks new and fresh. Great public area for socializing and relaxing. Breakfast was simple but tasty. Best black coffee I had in Japan! Nice public bath area with good showers etc, but the bath was kind of luke warm and did not feel quite clean.

The location is very good and even though there is no toilet in the room but we really enjoy the public onsen. It’s really interesting. The mattress is a bit thin and not very comfy. Room is not very big but manageable.

This place is somewhere in between a hotel and a hostel - and it’s definitely our favourite of all the places we stayed in Japan. The rooms might be tiny but they have everything you need (and small rooms seem to be very common in Japan), the shared shower room is like being in a spa and the communal areas are very stylish but still really welcoming. The free tea and coffee is a real perk - especially as its proper ground coffee and loose leaf teas. We stayed for 4 nights and it was the perfect place to explore Kyoto and the surrounding cities - Kyoto station was just a 5 min walk. Only suggestion I have is to put towel hooks in the bedrooms - as we struggled to keep them dry for reusing... but that’s so minor compared to everything else! Excellent value for money and would definitely stay again.

Rooms are small by Western standards but if you have two small suitcases they can fit. Bed was comfortable and a good size. Even though there are many rooms on each floor it was still quiet. The main problem is that there is only one small bathroom on each floor (one toilet for men and two for women) which can be far from your room. The showers are on the ground floor so you have to go down to shower but you get a nice kimono-style suit and toiletries to make it comfortable. The public bath is relaxing and clean. It is a close walk to Kyoto station and there are a few nice spots to eat and drink nearby.

I gave this property an excellent rating overall, due to close proximity to train station, big shopping centre nearby, and a quiet restful sleep. The bath/ bathroom is unbelievably relaxing. My only criticism was the length of the bed, our room was 6 feet wide and I was unable to lie straight while sleeping. Select a large room size if you're a tall person.

very clean shared bathroom. free shared laundry and dryer inside the hotel. provided 1 free buffet dinner for 3 nights we stayed here. Free snack and 1 beer for each night we stayed there. Overall, we are very satisfied with our stay and would definately recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto
