This is an airbnb-style hostel guised as a 3-star hotel. No hotel personnel is on site. You have to text message a number to get a code to enter (and they do not respond immediately).
The internal decoration looks good, which maybe the only positive point of this place.
My scary experience:
On the first night I arrived, two tenants rented a room and hosted a crazy party. They invited tens of people to the backyard, playing loud music, chanting ritual slogan, dancing in highly inappropriate ways after midnight, shining flashlights. The police came twice and finally arrested or chased away the partiers.
I felt extremely unsafe as everything happened just outside my window. So I decided to move out on the second day. As you can guess, the hotel owner would not refund at all. The owner said, you know, this is in Chicago, and it is normal. They only offered a free night of stay for next time when I am in Chicago again.
Unless you also think such a party in your hotel after midnight is normal, DON'T BOOK THIS PLACE.
