Staff set the tone
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a bit of a mixed experience. Upon arrival, my first interaction with the front desk staff was disappointing. The receptionist did not offer a welcome greeting or even a smile, which immediately set a lackluster tone. To make matters worse, the receptionist had an earbud in and was talking to someone the entire time during my check-in, which made me feel like I was an afterthought. He handed me my key card but didn’t provide any further direction, like most receptionists do by showing you where the elevator is or explain what amenities were available. It left me feeling like I wasn’t truly valued as a guest.
However, the experience took a turn for the better the next morning when I checked out. The receptionist was a stark contrast to the previous night’s staff. She greeted me with a warm “Good morning!” as soon as I approached the desk, and her friendly and welcoming demeanor was a pleasant surprise. It was clear she was focused on providing excellent customer service, which made a big difference in my overall impression of the hotel. While the hotel itself was decent, the service quality really seemed to vary depending on who was at the front desk. I hope they can improve consistency in guest interactions going forward.
