The staff was great, but the room itself did not feel clean. The hall/rooms smelled like mildew and smoke (so maybe that section used to be the smoking section of the hotel?). We have a newborn so we were hesitant about the air quality we’d be sleeping in.
The sheets and pillowcases on the bed were very damp, probably due to the humidity in the room (the AC unit was old) or due to the sheets being put on while still damp from the washer/dryer. But because the bed was made up, the sheets underneath didn’t have a chance to air-dry.
The area of town wasn’t TOO scary, but there are reports of vehicles being stolen there. The small parking lot isn’t gated and is very easily accessible to anyone on the access road of the highway. So we didn’t want to risk it and ended up sleeping somewhere else.
Again, the staff was fantastic and friendly, so nothing is their fault! We just didn’t feel like having our newborn there was the safest/cleanest environment.
