Booked a Junior Suite Full Ocean View via Expedia, ensuring flexibility with a refundable option. Arrived 3/3/25 at Crown Royal (first stay here, usually book Meliá).
Resort entrance was disappointing—tucked away down cobble roads. At check-in, we were told our reserved suite was unavailable, only offered a downgrade with an ocean view. Unfortunately, I had already handed over my CC before learning this.
Staff pushed us to see the alternative room. It was not a suite—tiny, near check-in, textured walls, an awful blue accent, and felt like an employee overflow room. Full ocean view, but absolutely unacceptable.
Immediately booked Meliá, called an Uber, and left. Removed my CC from Expedia but forgot the check-in agent had it.
A week later, Crown Royal charged my card. Disputed and reversed, but lesson learned.
Warning: Reports of resorts in MX double-booking rooms. Stay vigilant.
