8/10
We stayed in a king cabin, and it was exactly what we needed. The space was clean and cozy, with a separate living area, comfortable bed, coffee maker, microwave, and fridge — all the basics that make a big difference when you’re traveling. The carpet had some staining, which may be due to winter wear-and-tear (snow boots, muddy shoes, etc.), but otherwise the cabin was very clean and well-kept.
On-site perks:
A liquor store is attached to the resort right beside the lobby — convenient!
There is also an indoor pool and several amenities, though we didn’t use them.
Overall, it’s a peaceful and well-appointed property, and we’d absolutely stay here again.
The only downside:
The Grizzly Steakhouse, which is connected to the resort, had great service but very bland food. Everything tasted fresh, but nothing had flavor — no seasoning, no salt, no love. When our server (who was excellent) asked the kitchen for more bread, they gave us sad little garlic toasts with maybe an eighth of a teaspoon of pesto just dropped in the middle. It was almost funny how underwhelming it was.
If you’re in the area and looking for food with actual seasoning, we recommend skipping the Grizzly and heading to Dad’s Bar & Steakhouse in Thayne, WY — fantastic flavor and a great vibe.
Final thoughts:
Flying Saddle Resort was a win. Quiet, comfortable, and well-equipped cabins with beautiful surroundings — it was the perfect place to recharge. We’d definitely stay again (we’ll just eat elsewhere!).
