Positives: Cannot beat the ambience...hotel is set on lakeside Zurich...beautiful. When we checked in we were helped by Mario, who was extremely friendly, professional & helpful. Lobby is small & quaint adjacent to the restaurant with wood floors. Atmosphere is what you would expect from a boutique hotel, cozy but upscale. When you are not in your room you can either relax at a table outside with a glass a wine or walk a few steps to the pier & enjoy the view. Rooms had an unbeatable view of the lake, as well. Hotel restaurant has indoor/outdoor dining options & offers a varied selection with a slight emphasis on fish/seafood. Waiter was very patient when we had questions, especially since none of us speak German. We had a good breakfast that was included & the checkout process was efficient.
Negatives: While the main floor of the hotel is updated & still maintains a boutiquehotel charm, the same cannot be said of the rooms. They are in need of a renovation. Furniture is tattered, carpet needs replacing & bathrooms need updating. Our beds were hard & uncomfortable, too. Also, the rooms were not dirty but there needs to be extra care in housekeeping. Cob webs and dust in crevices, for example. Breakfast selection was good but they kept running out of things & had to wait for them to refill. I enjoyed the fresh fruit, eggs with cheese & bacon but the only sweet pastry was a very mediocre croissant. Last, no elevator. Overall, we still had a pleasant stay.
