There are plenty of things to do on the 3 Nusa islands of Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Penida and Nusa Ceningan, a cluster of small holiday islands around 20 km off the southeast coast of mainland Bali. You’ll find pristine beaches with coarse white sand, soaring cliff viewpoints, and sea views that can get very idyllic at sunset. The island also has a mysterious underground house, lush mangrove forests, and seafood farming villages.
On Nusa Lembongan, surfers can enjoy challenging breaks along its northwest coast, while divers can explore vivid reefs off its southwestern coasts and around the neighbouring island of Nusa Penida. You can join a single-day cruise or opt for an overnight stay if you’re looking to escape the busy crowds in Bali.

The Gala-Gala Underground House (Goa Gala-Gala) is a limestone labyrinth of connected chambers. It started as a passionate cave project by house owner Made Byasa, who was inspired by an episode from the Mahabharata epic in which the Pandawa heroes fled persecution from the Koravas by hiding in a cave. The project turned into a decade-long building obsession, and Goa Gala-Gala was completed in 1976. After the 7-metre descent down a hole in the ground, you will be astonished by Made's feat. There's a kitchen, sleeping quarters, and a living room within this underground house.
