I was extremely disappointed with this accommodation. The furniture was broken, the chairs had patches torn off, the floor tiles were coming up in several places, and the mattress had a large dent in it. The photos on the website bore no resemblance to the room we actually stayed in.
Looking back, I think I understand why the reviews and photos were so mixed. The building has three floors, and the rooms on the lower floors appear to have been renovated and probably look like the listing photos. Our room, on the top floor, looked half-renovated. It’s an old building where someone seems to have started refurbishing and stopped short of finishing the job, and the floor tiles were broken in many places.
I asked both Hotels.com and the property management to refund our second night, which they did, and I do give them credit for that. Even so, the room was clearly not fit to be rented out, especially at what we paid, which was a premium nightly rate.
If you’re thinking of booking, I’d suggest requesting a room on a lower floor, as I didn’t see inside those rooms, but the front door downstairs looked noticeably newer.
