Cold Showers, Hidden Costs, and Noisy Nights
Our stay at Pantheon Caesar Relais was disappointing and not worth the €200 per night.
Parking Misrepresentation: The hotel claimed to have parking, but it only referred to expensive street parking or garages costing €20-30/day. Hotels.com should prevent properties from misleading customers like this.
Horrible Shower Experience: The shower was a disaster—ice-cold water, a broken digital display, and weak water pressure. Despite complaints, staff suggested running the water for 10-15 minutes to warm it, which is wasteful and unacceptable. On the second day, the water was still freezing. After much insistence, we were moved to another room, but even there, the water barely warmed up. The hotel admitted the issue was due to the original room being far from the water pump and other guests finishing the warm water first—a problem they clearly knew about.
Poor Service and Maintenance: Staff were dismissive, and the room was poorly maintained. The TV didn’t work, the safe was unreliable, it was dirty under the bed, and the hotel was extremely noisy.
Recommendation: Avoid Pantheon Caesar Relais at all costs. There are better hotels in Rome that provide the basics of hospitality. Hotels.com should also take stricter action against false advertising and ensure better accountability for customer complaints. Hotels.com should offer refund and compensation and not cheap gift cards and not give it in the hands of the hotels that clearly easily can decline even when it is their fault.
