Great staff, hotel could be much better
The hotel staff are great. Always with a smile, accommodating, good english language skills and also very helpful. However, the hotel needs some work. I get that it's an old building, but the furniture and floor needs an update, especially the beds. The bathroom, however was good and everything was clean. The problem is that it's located in the first floor of a 3 storey building and the floor just above consists of apartments. Which means that at least until 1 am people upstairs are walking barefoot (so you can hear their feet banging on the floor with each step). Since the building is old, this also means that some kind of plumbing also vibrates within the ceiling. The effect is unpleasant... The hotel is in a good area, 10-15 minutes walk to the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio. Restaurants close-by. Also note that it is within the zone where car entrance is restricted. Final opinion: quaint, but overpriced (like most of Florence).
