Tybee Island is a small barrier island city in Georgia famed for its broad, gold-sand beaches, historic forts and buildings, local history museums, shopping and dining. The famed South Beach area features a scenic pier that stretches over the water as well as a pavilion that showcases live entertainment events. The 19th-century Fort Screven features historic gun batteries and is the home of the Tybee Island Light Station and Museum with a still-functioning lighthouse dating to the 18th century.
